Unintentional Consequences

I was just having a conversation with a friend about his immature younger brother. During the conversation we discussed the difference between children and adults. We both concluded that the greatest distinction between a child and an adult was that adults understand that there are consequences to every action, intentional or not. Intentions are almost immaterial. Remember the adage “The road to Hell is paved…”

This came to mind while reading an article about how the liberal group Human Rights First was whining about the collateral damage done by Predator UAVs (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/05/29/predator-drones-face-legal-challenges-liberals/ ).

I may only be 49, but I seem to remember an Executive Order that came from the same mentality of “fair” warfare. President Ford made it official policy that the US will not engage in assassination.

OK. But this has never dissuaded the US from trying to kill it major enemies. We almost got Kadaffi during that little fight and we have killed several Taliban and Al Queda officials. So ridding the World of this human garbage does not seem to be against US policy, so long as we don’t do it with a well placed bullet.

So now it is our policy to find these scumbags and send a missile or guided bomb into the building they happen to be in. Of course these folks are not hiding in a spider hole like a certain someone did, they are in homes and offices, surrounded by employees, servants, and family.

Now don’t get me wrong, as awful as it is to kill “innocents” I have no problem killing a few to get to the root of the problem. Better them than us.

However the logic of this policy strikes me as wanting.

We don’t believe it is right to send a sniper out to surgically administer a high velocity cranial lead injection to one of these scum, but blowing up the building they are in, to include any and all others in the vicinity is considered more noble?

So now the Libs are whining about killing these bad guys via missile, because there is no warning for the “innocents” in the vicinity. Well, would that not mean also warning the target? Here are the unintentional consequences I refer to in the title. That little Executive Order is causing the deaths of “innocents”.

Face it; the liberals of the world want to abolish death of any sort. We all should just hold hands and hug each other and everything will be all right. There are no “bad” people, just ones with different outlooks on life. Can’t we all just get along?

Figure it out folks. There are some people walking the planet that the human race would do better without.

So should we assassinate these folks or continue blowing up the building we find them in? Which choice is nobler?

Pick one since some of us are not willing to let these scum continue to cause the levels of human suffering they have to date.
That would be the least noble choice of all.
